We conducted a SWOT analysis to get a better understanding of what some of our competitors are doing in the market. Below are is an recap of our results.

User Surveys

Goal: Discover what factors prevent people from attending local art events and what would persuade them to go to an event

Our survey results helped us to discover that people do believe it is important to be involved in the arts and prefer to attend a live event.

What motivates users to attend local arts events?

User Insight:

• People tend not to go out of their way for art events but enjoy unique experiences with friends.
• Users need up to date information on events and incentives for attending art events.

Problem Statement:

Users don’t often attend local arts events because they don’t have a streamlined tool to find events that suit their interests, making staying at home more convenient. Users enjoy going out with loved ones, but aren’t aware of events they can invite friends to.

Solution:

An app that helps users search for events, suggests events for users based on their personal interests, and allows them to share interesting events with loved ones. A paired “rewards” feature to give users incentive to attend more events.

In person testing was very informative our feedback provide the following UI changes:

Key Takeaways

• Our primary feature of our application was to search for events so it made complete sense to have the navigation bar say "Search" as opposed to "Home". The user found that this minor change was easier to understand.
• The layout of each event card was designed originally to read left to right to enable more event cards to fit on the screen at one time. We found the users enjoyed more artwork which led us to the design look top down with a bigger image of the event on the top of the result card.
• Our original design for the My Events screen was to show the details of the event with 2 buttons directing the user to his/her ticket and the ability to invite others. The rewards feature was completely missed during our user testing which provided us with the insight that we need to make that feature more prominent. After further user testing we found that it made more sense for the 2 buttons to be Invite and Rewards.
